METTLER TOLEDO Process Analytics is a leading supplier to end users and system integration for liquid analytical measurement solutions to control production processes.

INGOLD is specialized on the parameters pH, DO, conductivity, turbidity and CO2 with a wide range of high quality products as sensors, housings, transmitters, cleaning systems as well as services. The main industries served are the pharmaceutical and the food & beverage industries, fulfilling hygienic requirements and the chemical industry, where accurate measurements under harshest conditions take place.

pH/redox (ORP) Electrodes

metler ph

Monitoring of the parameters pH and redox (ORP) is most important in many different industry processes to reduce cost and optimize the yield. The requirements of many industry processes are different. In chemical processes the material has to withstand acids or caustic strong solutions under for example high temperatures. The electrodes must also be certified for use in hazardous areas.

In pharmaceutical and food processes measuring systems have to meet hygienic design, and must withstand many sterility cycles and provide trace-ability for validation purposes. METTLER TOLEDO offers a wide range of different product families (liquid, gel, polymer, glass-free) combined with special housings, cables and transmitters which forward the measurement values to a process control system. Our high quality products meet all the specific needs as conformity to legislations (ATEX, FM, EHEDG) or specific accuracy or ruggedness.

Sensors

Conductivity & Resistivity Sensors

metler conductivity

Conductivity measurements are carried out in industrial processes primarily to obtain information on total ionic concentrations (e.g. dissolved compounds) in aqueous solutions. Widely used applications are water purification and CIP/SIP control.

The measuring system consists of an appropriate inline sensor directly inserted or in a housing, a cable connected to a transmitter converting the received signals to a measurement result or forwarding it to a PCS. The conductivity sensors from METTLER TOLEDO are designed for high process safety, rapid sensor replacement and quick and easy installation. Due to WideRange technology, ranges of measurement can now be covered that were previously only met with toroidal (electrodeless) sensor systems.

Dissolved CO2/dCO2 Sensors

metler co2

Besides pH and dissolved oxygen measurements, reliable monitoring and control of the CO2 partial pressure is important for successful fermentation. The oxidation of carbohydrates to CO2 water results from aerobic respiration. METTLER TOLEDO’s new CO2 measuring system is specially designed for in-situ measurement into a bioreactor and therefore “registrates” exactly the same partial pressure as the cell.

Dissolved Oxygen Sensors

metler oxy

Measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO) in an industrial process serves to control the oxygen concentration, optimize the process and yield. In the pharmaceutical industry there is a high demand for hygienic design and traceability for validation purposes. In the food or beer industry the sensors shall withstand many CIP (Cleaning in Place) or SIP (Sterilization in Place) cycles for long lifetime and hygienic purposes.

Besides inline measurement the off- or near-line measurement system is often used for control at different sites with a compact portable transmitter/sensor system with data-logger, sampling device and interface to download stored measurement values.

METTLER TOLEDO offers a wide range of different measuring systems for very specific requirements in different industries consisting of sensors, housings, transmitters, services and fulfills all high quality requirements.

  • Advanced (Hygienic) Dissolved Oxygen Sensors – InPro6800 Series
  • Premium (Low ppb) DO Sensors – InPro6900 Series
  • Offline Portable DO Measuring Systems – InTap4000e & InTap4004e

Turbidity Sensors

metler turb

Turbidity measurements provide data on the concentration of undissolved, suspended particles present in a liquid phase. The determined particle concentration is used for process monitoring and optimization e.g. to control biomass growth, crystallization and filtration processes or concentration measurement of solid matters in waste water.

Two optical turbidity measurement solutions are available: one is based on the back scattered light technology and the other one on the forward/90° scattered light technology. The first takes advantage of fibre optic technology for full compatibility with METTLER TOLEDO process housings. The second is available in a big variety of flow-through housings for direct pipe installations.

Transmitters & Meters

metler trans

Transmitters are an integral part of in-line measurement systems in industrial processes used to monitor and control processes. METTLER TOLEDO offers a comprehensive range of transmitters for pH, DO, conductivity, turbidity and CO2. Three different lines allow to specifically meet the needs of cost-efficiency, performance and outstanding performance under harsh and specific conditions

A wide range of transmitters meet with the specific customer needs in many different industries and with highest standards in line with the demands of modern process technology – from basic applications up to sophisticated requirements such as HART®, Profibus®-PA and FOUNDATION Fieldbus communication as well as EEx approvals for installation in hazardous areas.

Housings

metler housings

In industrial processes different parameter measurement systems are mounted to optimize and control the process. Housings are a very important part of the whole system as they allow to insert the sensors into the media at a specific place in the process (pipe, vessel or basin).

Depending upon process requirements and the type of electrode/sensor used (pH/ORP, DO, conductivity, turbidity, CO2), the design and function of the housing can vary considerably. The demands placed on process adaption methods by plant manufacturers, endusers and not least legislation, are numerous, particularly in the interests of process reliability, e.g. sterility/hygiene, and operator safety.

METTLER TOLEDO offers, apart from their world-famous Ingold weld-in sockets, a wide selection of housings to cover the manifold requirements of the process industry, from simple static models throughto sophisticated and certified retractable versions for automated sensor cleaning.
